The Tertiary Centre

Far North REAP’s Tertiary Centre supports
students in the Mid and Far North who take on study beyond
compulsory schooling. The focus is on providing face-to-face
workshops that help students succeed in essay writing,
researching, examination sitting and critical thinking. When
seeking support, students make appointments with the Tertiary
Advisor, Ryan. He is an experienced graduate student who has
both taught and completed extramural courses. Where students
look to move on to the next educational step, Ryan is excited to
guide the way.
The following
Tertiary Centre services are available to the community at NO
cost:
Academic Assessment &
Planning – This can include
anything from discussing possible programmes of study to written
assessments that determine how well a student can think and
write under pressure. Students can find out which courses are
available, how many they’ll be able to take and how long they
can expect to study to complete a qualification.
Enrolment Support &
Financial Provision – This
involves working through the required applications and paperwork
for specific programmes with students to clarify what needs to
be done; scholarship and student loan applications are also a
part of this support.
Study Skills & IBP
(Integrative Bridging Programme) –
This encompasses all the bits and pieces needed to succeed in
study:
·
how to read through an
assignment and know what is being asked,
·
using research and online
materials to supplement assignments,
·
reading texts closely and
writing about them effectively,
·
tips for completing timed
examinations,
·
time management and how to keep
on track with study deadlines,
·
plus anything else a student
may need to work through in order to be a success.
The Tertiary Centre
offers the IBP as a semester-long tertiary preparation course
for those who need all of these things, as well as a bit of help
getting back into the swing of study.
Student
Lounge & Community Library – Far
North REAP maintains a student lounge as dedicated study space
for students. Workstations are available for those who need to
spread out in a quiet place to get into an assignment. There
are also desktop and laptop computers available for use with
broadband internet access if students require access to
university sites or research libraries. Students can even have
a lie down on the couches for a quick read or rest if all the
work gets too much!
All of these things and
more are available to make our learners in the Mid and Far North
successful ones. Please contact Ryan if you have questions or
would like to make an appointment:
