Programme Description:
In this four-week course, we will look at the two primary components of giving a good speech: selecting and structuring the content of the speech in the most effective way possible and presenting the speech effectively. You will also get to practice your public speaking techniques through at least two speeches: one impromptu (only a short time to prepare, on the spot) and the other prepared at home and given in class.
Learning Outcomes:
Structure a coherent and engaging speech, using effective openings, logical sequencing, supporting evidence, and strong conclusions.
Apply vocal techniques - such as pace, tone, clarity, and volume - to enhance the delivery and impact of their message.
Use body language intentionally, including posture, gestures, eye contact, and movement, to strengthen audience connection and confidence.
Prepare and deliver both prepared and impromptu speeches, demonstrating increased confidence and improved communication skills.
Evaluate their own and others’ speeches, using constructive feedback to further develop their public speaking abilities.
