Description:

A one-day wānanga, where you will be introduced to the foundations of contemporary tukutuku making with our tutor Kylie Simeon. You will learn about key tukutuku stitches, explore patterns and their stories.

This is the contemporary method of utilising pegboard and knot-string, not the traditional method of creating tukutuku.

Learners will:

-Learn about patterning and a few pūrākau/their history through stories

-How to do the Kowhiti stitches and tūmatakahuki stitch

-How to use more than two patterns

-Naming your board
