Rongoā Māori Wānanga - Kaitaia
Learn the traditional healing practices of Aotearoa, guided by tikanga and taught with aroha.
This wānanga offers our Te Hiku community a genuine introduction to Rongoā Māori, the traditional healing system of Aotearoa.
Whether you want to reconnect with mātauranga Māori, deepen your understanding of native rongoā plants, or simply learn a practical, hands-on skill for whānau wellbeing, this workshop is for you.
At Far North REAP, we believe learning happens best within community, grounded in whanaungatanga, respect, and shared knowledge.
Cost: $10 per person
What You'll Learn
This hands-on wānanga is grounded in tikanga Māori and kaitiakitanga. By the end of the session, you will be able to:
Understand and apply tikanga associated with Rongoā Māori, including respect for people, plants, and the environment
Identify selected native plants, their key features, and traditional healing properties
Practise sustainable harvesting, in line with tikanga and kaitiakitanga
Understand the safe use and application of rongoā to support hauora and wellbeing
Create your own simple rongoā products, such as herbal drinks and balms, using natural ingredients
You'll leave with practical skills, a deeper cultural understanding, and a rongoā product you've made yourself.
